STARFISH & SEASHELLS
Paint your nails with your favourite blue nail polish, apply top coat and let it dry. Here I used two coats of the gorgeous cobalt blue polish from heroine.nyc called Royal Blood.
Choose a stamping plate with a starfish and seashell image. Use a gold stamping polish, put it over the image on the stamping plate, scrape away the excess and pick up the image with the stamper.
Make a decal with the image, either on the stamper or by transferring the image onto a nail art mat. Fill in the starfish and seashells with one or a few light-colored polishes - I used Sugar Spun & Peek-a-Blue - and a thin nail art brush.
When the decal is dry, transfer it onto the nail with a stamper.
Clean up around the nail where needed with a cleanup brush and nail polish remover.
Finish your mani with top coat and you’re done.
Paint two of your nails white and two black. Seal the base with a top coat and let it dry completely.
Make a sunset colored gradient with a fan brush over the nails painted white. By using three different bright summer shades, place a few drops of each polish - from lighter to darkest - one above the other on a nail art mat and fan them out in a horizontal direction. I used Peach Please, Mean Girl and Touch Me Not from heroine.nyc.
Now use that fan brush to create a gradient on your nails, making a few strokes from one side of the nail to the other, until you get the desired effect. Repeat the process if necessary. Clean up around the nail and seal the gradient with top coat.
Use nail vinyls to make the palm trees and the tropical flowers. You can place the vinyls directly on your nails or use a nail art mat to make decals. I use a nail art mat because my nails are too small and curved and the vinyls keep lifting.
For the flowers, use the same fan brush gradient technique as before, only this time over the nail vinyl. Peel off the nail vinyl before the polishes dry. If you used a nail art mat to make decals, put a coat of clear polish over the decals, wait for them to dry, then place them on a stamper and transfer them onto your nails.
Use black polish to color in two different sizes of palm trees and peel off the nail vinyls before the polish dries.
Clean up around the edges and finish your design with top coat.
A LEAFY DESIGN
For this design you’ll need a neon green polish, a nude polish, a black stamping polish and a stamping plate(s) with tropical leaf images.
Paint your pointer and middle finger nails in a nude color, and your ring and pinky finger nails neon green. I used the beautiful green polish from heroine.nyc called Sublime.
Use a stamper and scraper to pick up the desired images in black stamping polish. Fill in the leaf images with your neon green polish and the other images with the nude polish. When the polish dries, transfer the images onto your nails with the stamper: put the images of green leaves over the nude base and the images with nude polish over the green base.
Seal in your design with top coat.
