Your real name and Instagram handle:
Where are you from?
I'm from a small lake town near Cedar Point in Ohio; currently reside in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and will be moving in June to Toledo, Ohio! Maybe I'll stay put this time? 🤷
What got you into doing nails?
I got into nails after forming a fascination with nail art tutorials on Instagram. After a few weeks of watching 15 second clip after 15 second clip pretty much nonstop (this was 4 years ago before we had A FULL MINUTE 🙊), I decided that I was going to give it a try. I ordered some nail vinyls and quick dry top coat and the rest is history! *No I wasn't good at first, but practiced a heck of a lot and slowly improved my skills. If it's something you want to do, keep at it!
Your favorite kind of nail art design to do?
My favorite designs to do change all the time, but consistently I find myself gravitating to a more simple geometric or tribal inspired art design. I used to change my art daily or every other day, but now that I'm wearing manis for a week at a time, I try to go with designs that are more minimal.
A nail polish shade you couldn’t live without?
A polish shade I couldn't live without is definitely mauve. It's great year round, matches EVERYTHING, and I never get bored of it being on my nails! Maybe I can get the hubs on board with that same logic and color for our new bedroom 🤔
Other nail artist(s) you admire?
One of your all-time favorite manicures you have ever done?
When I read this question, I IMMEDIATELY thought about my rose gold and quartz mani and stated scrolling through my feed to retrieve a picture of it. It took me about twelve years to find, but what do you know? Heroine's very own White Noise was the white base I used! I would wear that design in every color combination possible for all eternity if necessary. Maybe a pastel version is long overdue??
Tell us about your kid(s)!
What can I say about my kids without being that "overly gushy and braggy mom" that everyone rolls their eyes at??? In all seriousness, I don't just love them--I like them. I like who they are and love watching them slowly become their own person. My daughter, Alaina (who will proudly tell you she's six AND A HALF and don't you forget that half!), is my studious little rule follower. She is the sweetest, most sensitive, gentle hearted young person I know. She pushes herself to be the absolute best she can be in all aspects of life.
My five year old son, Hudson, is such a polar opposite to his big sis, you'd be shocked to find they were raised exactly the same, haha! He's our little sour patch kid (more sweet than sour) and has so much energy and spitfire inside that if I could bottle and sell the smallest morsel of it, I'd be a millionaire! He's strong willed, loud, crazy, fun, and absolutely hilarious. I didn't know a little kid could make me laugh so hard I would actually cry!
One thing both kids have in common is that they melt my dang heart on a daily basis with "I love you's", tons of hugs and cuddles, adorable little notes/drawings, and sweet sleepy smiles at bedtime. I know these years go fast, and they have both taught me so much about life and slowing down to really appreciate the little moments.
Baby number three will be here in a few weeks and I can't wait to see who he becomes and what he teaches me!
What’s one of the best Mother’s Day gifts you’ve received?
I'm not a huge gift person--I get more excited about giving gifts than getting them! That being said, one Mother's Day, my husband and the kids surprised me with a scavenger hunt around the house and each clue had a coupon attached to it. By the end of it, I had a laundry pass, diaper pass, massage, an endless hug pass, and a bunch of other ones I can't recall at the moment. It was so fun and special--definitely something I'll never forget!
What do you like to do besides nail art?
Besides nail art, I love to cook! When I got married, I couldn't even scramble an egg, but slowly learned how to put down the takeout menu and cook legit meals. It's my happy place, and when I get in the zone, I totally pretend I'm hosting my own cooking show and talk through the entire process 😂 I've gotten some interesting looks from the hubs when he walks into the kitchen to hear me yammering on to myself. My favorite things to cook from scratch are chicken paprikash, spaghetti sauce, and butternut squash alfredo 🤤
Favorite Social Platform?
My favorite social platform is definitely Instagram, but I've been really loving YouTube recently and find myself watching that more than TV and Netflix combined! I love being able to watch a video and then read the comments section.... I might even say that it's a guilty pleasure of mine. Let me take a second to remind you that behind the screen, there is a real person reading your comments. Before leaving a nasty/demeaning/unhelpful comment, think about how that's actually going to impact the person you're directing it at. Are you actually being helpful, or are you just being mean? Spread positivity, build each other up. Be kind. Keep the yuck to yourself 😄💕
Your other social handles:
Where else can you find me?? Currently, I'm only on Instagram but plan on getting back into YouTube with a fun series as soon as I can! I was all ready to buy a new computer last fall, but then decided having another baby would be more fun, so it's going to have to wait a bit longer 😜
