Every March, all the amazing women in history that have paved the way for women’s rights and privileges throughout the years are celebrated. And although women should of course be celebrated every day, it’s still great that is has been lawfully acknowledged that we should! Having a month dedicated to women also gives teachers, professors the opportunity to focus on the amazing women in history and discuss them with their students in depth. There are so many amazing women around the world who have done exceptional work and are role models for thousands of women today.
Women’s History Month had its origins as a national celebration in 1981 when Congress passed Public Law 97-28, which authorized and requested the President to proclaim the week beginning March 7th, 1982 as Women’s History Week. Congress then passed Public Law 100-9 in 1987, designating March Women’s History Month!
Just asking around our office, icons like Coco Chanel or Helena Rubinstein were named as perfect examples for women leading in the early beauty and fashion industry, and of course the incredible ex-FLOTUS Michelle Obama, who became the 44th first lady of the United States, and the first African-American first lady, which inspired many women not only in America, but worldwide.
But not only women who are successful in their career and are well known can be inspiring, we look up to our mothers, aunts, sisters, friends and colleagues who can have an impact just as powerful!
We are all heroines, and we believe that no matter how small our achievements, there is always someone we can be a role model for who looks up to us.
As we have mentioned before, it is very important to us to give back. We donate part of the proceeds of all sales we make to a good cause, always!
Starting March 1st, we want to support an organization that specializes in giving girls and young women opportunities, a better life and helps them achieve their goals. This is why we would like to donate to the Petals-N-Belles Disruptor Membership program. 100% of all donation made to this program go towards after school, weekend and summer programs for girls living near or below poverty.
So with every purchase you make this month, part of the proceeds of this purchase will go to Petals-N-Belles! If you would like to learn more about the Petals-N-Belles organization, you can visit their website at www.petalsnbelles.org
