heroine.nyc: Tell us about yourself... (Who are you, what do you do, what do you embody.)

Hannah: Hello! I'm Hannah from @hannah_banana_nails_ on Instagram. I'm a nail artist and brand ambassador for Heroine NYC! I began doing nail art in 2015 and it quickly became my favorite hobby. I've loved seeing how nail art trends and techniques have changed over the years, welcoming in new artists and personalities.

heroine.nyc: What makes you you?

Hannah: Growing up, I was always the creative type; I was constantly finding different projects and artistic outlets to dive into. I have always had a love for miniature works of art and this medium is a perfect way to express myself. I am always ready to experiment with new techniques and art forms.

heroine.nyc: What is your favorite color, and what do you associate with it? What comes to your mind when you think about it?

Hannah: Although I rarely wear it on my nails, my favorite color overall is definitely green! It is a very versatile color that evokes different emotions. Bright green reminds me of the essence of life and hopeful fresh starts. Dark emerald green feels very comforting and cozy, almost like a tight hug. When I see anything in the color green, I feel like I can relate to it, like, it's so me!

heroine.nyc: What characteristics do you associate with a heroine?

Hannah: To me, a heroine is a person who can express themself in their own way. They exhibit their uniqueness with their style of fashion, taste in music, and even the way they interact with others. A person doesn't need to be bold and extroverted, as there is also value in being reserved and introverted. Even if they are somewhere in the middle, being genuine is one of the most important characteristics of a heroine.

heroine.nyc: What is your favorite shade from our range? And why does this color suit your personality so well?

Hannah: It's so hard to pick a favorite! I will say that one of my favorites is definitely "Golden Hour." This polish is absolutely stunning, and anytime I have a manicure with it, I really feel like I'm glowing. The way this gold polish shimmers makes it easy to feel empowered and it gives me goddess energy for sure. It reminds me of the summer sun shining on my skin. I also had the pleasure to name this polish so maybe I'm a bit biased haha!

heroine.nyc: How do you express your personality creatively?

Hannah: Lately I've been trying to find designs that feel good to wear. Designs that make me feel empowered can change day to day, but not letting others influence who I am is very important to my vision when it comes to both art and sense of self.

heroine.nyc: Why is nail polish the perfect vehicle for you to express your personality?
-
Hannah: I have learned that art doesn't need to have any boundaries or labels. If I feel carefree or mellow, more masculine or more feminine, minimalistic or abstract, I can let my nail polish designs and colors show that. There are countless designs, shades, and techniques to help me feel my best.

heroine.nyc: What is your favorite nail (art) trend in 2023?

Hannah: I have loved seeing masculine designs become increasingly popular. It shows nail polish can be for ANYONE and people can express their own identity however they feel is right for them. Matching girlfriend/boyfriend designs are SO cute, and I would love to see more men wearing nail polish designs as it becomes normalized.
